ACB Arrests R&B Employee in G’bal While Accepting Bribe

Srinagar : The Jammu & Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau (J&K ACB) on Wednesday said that it has arrested one R&B employee in Ganderbal while accepting bribe.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday the J&K ACB said “a complaint was received wherein it was alleged that in order to release the Contractor Card-D in favour of the complainant, Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, Computer Operator in the office of Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B) Circle, Ganderbal is demanding Rs. 8000/- as bribe and after negotiations the matter was settled at Rs. 4000/- to be paid as 2nd installment, while, Rs. 3000/- has already been taken by the accused as 1st installment”.
Stating that upon receiving the instant complaint prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out, the J&K ACB in it’s statement further said that case FIR No. 07/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Srinagar and investigation was also initiated. “During the course of investigation a trap team constituted and team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Rafiq Ahmad Sheikh, Computer Operator in the office of Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B) Circle, Ganderbal while demanding and accepting bribe amount of Rs. 4000/- from the complainant following which he was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team”, reads the statement, adding that “ the bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses”.
In the concluding para of it’s statement the J&K ACB said that the role of Superintending Engineer, Public Works Department (R&B) Circle, Ganderbal in the matter is also being examined and further investigation into the case is on.
