Udhampur : A meeting was held at Block headquarters Khoon under the chairmanship of JuhiManhasPathania, Vice Chairperson, District Development Council, Udhampur with a view to finalise PRI-component of district Capex.
Pathania called for including practically feasible works in various sectors by Panchayats in line with local needs and as per the collective will of Gram Sabha.
She emphasized the need for focusing on practically feasible works which are for community welfare and serve the purpose of ‘community at large’.
She called upon the concerned departments to improve their functioning by ensuring quick response, follow up of public issues. She said ‘to plan more and spend more’ and ultimately make visible the difference on ground is the biggest mantra which needs to be followed religiously by PRIs/nodal officers of line departments. She called upon line departments as well as PRIs to ensure that good quality work is executed on ground so that the Prime Minister’s resolve of ‘HarGharKoNal’ is virtually actualised on the ground. She urged the local treasuries to avoid unnecessary delay in disbursing prescribed amounts in bank accounts of beneficiaries of various centrally sponsored schemes.
Among the issues raised by local PRIs included Khoon to Nardi road, electrification and augmentation demands in various low voltage pockets of Khoon block. They also canvassed for checking quality control on Dhemma to Thial road, Sanote to GharSambhnaBanj road, Hamdana to Panjian road and Panjian to Nokain road. The PRIs demanded for immediately making up of deficiencies by contractor agencies which have incurred during persistence of defect liability periods. The PRIs further demanded action against the officers/contractor agencies at PanjianNokain, PMGSY road, who have suspended the drinking water supply lines of the people of the area.
Pathania called upon the concerned officers to be more responsive and sensitive to the public needs and exigencies. She further asked them to work with great zeal and enthusiasm as the people of the area have high hopes on PRIs/local officers. Romesh Gupta, Mohan Lal, Raman Khajuria, Chain Singh, Ashok Singh (all sarpanches) addressed the meeting and put forth their views.
