Ganderbal : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that officers from Police Post Shadipora at a checkpoint established near Wakoora intercepted two persons who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and upon checking, officers recovered 140 grams of Charas and 2Kgs of Cannabis powder from their possession.
Stating that the accused have been identified as Tanveer Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Altaf Bhat resident of Wakoora Ganderbal and Fayaz Ahmad Malla son of Gh Rasool Malla resident of Rakhi Shilwat Sumbal Bandipora, police in it’s statement said that the said accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody., stating therein further that a case vide FIR No. 43/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
