Ganderbal : Police on Thursday said that it has arrested arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued on Thursday police said that officers from PP Shadipora under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Ganderbal Abdul Majid at a checkpoint established at Waskoora intercepted a vehicle (Xylo) bearing registration number JK15-0610 with two persons on board and upon searching, officers recovered 15 bottles of Codeine Phosphate & 128 capsules of banned drugs from their possession.
Stating that the said accused have been identified as Bilal Ah Parry son of Ali Mohammad Parry resident of Wangipora Sumbal and Javid Ah Ganie son of Gh Mohammad Ganie resident of Lar, Police in it’s statement said that the accused have been also arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody, stating therein further that the vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Police also said that a case vide FIR No. 41/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal and investigation has been taken up.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
