Jammu : In his recent episode of the Radio Talk Show, Awaam ki Awaaz, Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha appreciated the suggestion of Samba resident Rahul Kumar for promoting digital literacy among women.
The LG has appreciated Rahul’s suggestions proposed to government for promoting the digital literacy among women.
Welcoming the suggestion made by Rahul Kumar regarding PPP Model to bridge the digital divide and create an enabling environment for Digital Inclusion, Lieutenant Governor said the government is committed to remove all the social imbalances.
The LG observed that digital technology plays a vital role in inclusive growth and bridging the gap between government’s programmes and citizens.
The LG further said that to fulfill Hon’ble Prime Minister’s resolve of making all villages digitally literate, we have decided to launch Digital Jammu Kashmir. In the coming days, under this campaign, the administration will work towards digital services and digital literacy, he added.
Rahul Kumar, who is preparing for civil services, said that digital gender gap in J & K is huge, as less than third of J&K’s total internet users are female and government should take some remedial measures to bridge the divide. He added that in 2020 Facebook launched its ‘We Think Digital’ programme here in partnership with the National Commission for Women (NCW) and Cyber Peace Foundation for UP & other states and these types of programmes should be conducted in J&K also. He also said that government initiatives like PMGDISHA, NDLM (National Digital Litercay mission), Beti Bachao Beti padhao, e-Sakhi and Mahila E-Haat among others should be properly implemented and monitored.
Rahul Kumar also lavished praise for the monthly programme started by the LG and said that such platform encourages citizens to contribute towards nation building in one or other way.
He said that through the radio programme, people voice their valuable insights regarding different fields which inturn are being utilised by the government for drafting development policies as per the needs of the people, thus making the governance process more inclusive and people-centric.
He said that it makes good sense to take feedback and suggestions from the common people for whom the various programmes and policies of the government are meant.
