Udhampur : In continuation to series of programs being organised under AzadiKaAmrutMahotsav INDIA@75, Government Degree College Udhampur, in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Council of Rural Education, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, hosted an online Orientation Workshop on Rural entrepreneurship Development, here Monday.
The program was conducted under the Patronship of Principal Prof.SubashChander Sharma, who was also the chief guest for the program.
ShivaliChoudhary, Coordinator of MGNCRE Cell, J&K, Ministry of Education, Government of India was the Resource person for the programme.
Prof.ManishaSarupKohli, Prof.Gurvinder Raj Verma and Dr. Pankaj Sharma were the organizers of the event.
In his message on the occasion, the chief guest Prof.SubashChander Sharma congratulated the MGNCRE coordinator and the college organizing team for initiating such a relevant program that will surely pave the way for the young rural generation for the rise of the economy of the villages and country on the whole as the majority of the population lives in the village. He said that such occasions are the need of the hour to usher new growth to make India Self Reliant and resilient.
The special guest Prof.BabuLal Thakur threw light on the different aspects of the rural economy and the role youth can play to adopt rural entrepreneurship to become a job creator at village level.
Earlier, ManishaSarupKohli, HOD Psychology and Coordinator Career Counseling Cell formally welcomed the chiefguest, the resource person, all faculty and students participating in the awareness workshop. She laid the foundation for the workshop by introducing the role of Career counselling and IQAC cell of the college to have taken in hand student-friendly initiatives.
In her Interactive talk in the workshop, the resource person ShivaliChoudhary had a very activity oriented session on understanding the various aspects of rural entrepreneurship. She said that at the behest of the Ministry of Education, through MGNCRE, the Government has taken on the onus of strengthening the process of teaching and learning with institutional systems and processes. As per NEP 2020 guidelines, there is a need of faculty who can adapt to the rapidly evolving learning environment. The MGNCRE is the forerunner in various path breaking activities including propelling Rural Entrepreneurship Development (RED) activities. She was of the view that Gandhiji’s thoughts on village self-reliance or Atmanirbhar Bharat focus on village economic activities.
The participants were also shown a video on the successful village entrepreneurs of India and the role of various Govt. agencies and departments thereof.
At the end of the workshop, an interactive question-answer session was wonderfully responded by ShivaliChoudhary. A number of participants Harsh, Rohit Kumar, Prof.ManishaSarupKohli, Dr.RippyBawa, Dr.VipulChalotra, TanmeetKour, Dr.Rupali Sharma, interacted with the resource person on various aspects of rural entrepreneurship.
In the offline round, around 100 participants had asked different sets of questions, which were ably responded to by the resource person efficiently.
The sessionwas moderated by Dr. Pankaj Sharma.The programme came to an end with the formal vote of thanks tendered by Prof.Gurvinder Raj Verma, Coordinator IQAC. Around two hundred participants had registered for the programme.
The Programme was attended by a number of teaching staff, NSS Volunteers, NCC Cadets and other students of the College.
