Kulgam : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat Saturday visited Waltengoo Nad in Kund valley and took stock of physical status of hutments that are under the execution of Rural Development Department (RDD).
These huts are being constructed to accommodate/rehabilitate people/families who were affected due to the massive snow avalanche which hit the area in 2005.
The DC directed the concerned executing agency to restart work on these hutments and ensure their completion within a few months.
Present on the occasion were ADC, CPO, ACR, Ex. Engineer REW, Tehsildar, BDO and other officers.
It was informed that 76 huts have been already completed and allotted among beneficiaries in the area and they are now residing in these huts.
The DC Saturday directed the concerned to complete work on more 44 sets which are at different stages of completion and will come up with an estimated cost of 2.49 crore to accommodate more families.
Later the DC interacted with the locals and listened to their issues and grievances. He also visited the colony where people are residing in already allotted huts and took stock of water, power and other facilities there. He interacted with the inhabitants and listened to their issues for redressal.
