Shopian : The District Youth Services and Sports Department, Shopian Organised Inter- Block District Level Kabaddi Tournament under the banner of Youth Services and Sports Cup 2021 Friday at Sports Stadium Batapora Shopian.
The DYSSO, Gurmukh Singh Dutta was the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The final match was played between Panchayat Mashwara and Panchayat Sindoo Shirmal and won by Panchayat Mashwara.
Speaking on the occasion, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Shopian, Gurmukh Singh Dutta said that it is an effort to promote the game in the district. He added that Kabaddi was not so popular in Kashmir valley but the Kabaddi pro attracted youths towards this game and teams from all over the region took part in the tournament.
Dutta said that the winning team will get a chance to participate in nationals.
Kabaddi serves as a platform for youth. The players also get good exposure to meet other teams and share their experiences with them and get some tips from the other players that help them to give the best performance in this game, Dutta, added.
Later, medals and trophies were distributed among the players.
Officers and officials of DYSSO and other officers were present.
