Doda: Salary of Panchayat Sys withheld for delaying MGNREGA Payments

Doda : Taking cognizance of delaying MGNREGA payments, Assistant Commissioner Development Doda Phulail Singh Wednesday ordered withholding of the salary of erring Panchayat Secretaries posted in different blocks of the district.
The order issued by the ACD reads that timely payment is one of the key indicator to ensure proper implementation of the MGNREGA program in J&K as well as in the district which is being monitored by the higher authorities regularly and even after the repeated warnings twenty four panchayat secretaries have failed to improve the performance in their respective panchayats under timely payment indicator.
In this regard the salary of the erring panchayat secretaries have been withhold with immediate effect. The respective BDOs have been directed not to credit salary in favour of the erring Panchayat secretaries till they do not improve their performance.
Moreover, the BDO’s have been asked to start proceedings against the second signatories with dismal performance due to negligence, through Block Development Chairpersons under the provisions of J&K Panchayati Raj ACT 1989.
