J&K ACB traps Rural Dev Deptt’s JE for accepting bribe

Srinagar  : The Jammu & Kashmir Anti Corruption Bureau on Tuesday trapped a Junior Engineer of Rural Development Department of Block Trehgam of North Kashmir’s Kupwara while accepting bribe of Rs 8000/- for preparing a bill for the work executed under MGNREGA.
In a statement issued on Tuesday the J&K Anti Corruption Bureau on Tiesday said that according to complaint received by it one Gh Hassan the Junior Engineer of Rural Development Department, Block Tregham, District Kupwara was demanding bribe of ₹8000 for preparing Bill for the work executed by complainant under MGNREGA.
The complainant, according to J&K ACB statement, alleged that the accused Junior Engineer (JE) was adopting delaying tactics and not preparing bill for the work executed by complainant under MGNREGA & 14th FC at village Kunanposhpura, Block Tregham, District Kupwara.
“The said Junior Engineer was demanding bribe of ₹8000 from complainant as his commission”, reads the J&K ACB Statement, adding that “ Upon receiving the instant complaint prima facie offence U/S 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 was found made out and consequently case FIR No. 06/2022 was registered at P/S ACB Baramulla”.
Stating that subsequently, a trap team was constituted which caught Gh Hassan the Junior Engineer of Rural Development Department (REW), Block Trehgam, District Kupwara red handed while demanding and accepting bribe of ₹8000/- from the complainant, the J&K ACB in it’s statement further said that the said Junior Engineer was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team, stating therein further that the bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses and further investigations of the case is in progress.
