Samba: Sports Council activates rural sports clubs

Samba : A day long sports event was organised in Guraha Slathia, Samba on the other day.
The function was presided over by the Secretary, J&K Sports Council who also distributed prizes among the Cricket, Chess, Kabaddi, Carom and Volleyball teams. The event aimed at guiding and counselling potential youth for future challenges.
It was the first of its kind initiative for clubbing the sports activities with the welfare programme meant for the youth. The local youth of Gurha Slathia were apprised about the recently launched sports policy by the government of union territory of J&K.
While interacting with the players and sports enthusiasts, the Secretary J&K Sports Council assured them of all the support and promised to provide them the right platform to hone their skills and carve their niche in the sporting circles of the country.
She also lauded the counselling cell of Guraha Slathia, which rose to the occasion to channelize the energy of local youth.
Rajiv Sharma, President Hockey J&K and Dr. Tarun, General Secretary Hockey J&K also attended the function as the Guest of Honour and Special Guest respectively. Sports lovers, Sarpanchs and other Panchayat members along with officials from Sports Council were also present on the occasion.
