Anantnag : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla Saturday visited the villages of Imoh and Kadpora in Achabal and participated in the ongoing Vigilance Awareness fortnight.
Dr Singla interacted with the public at both locations and termed the Vigilance Awareness fortnight a historic intervention. He said that this is the first time deliberations are being held at the Panchayat level to record the public observations regarding implementation of National Food Security Act. He said the PRI representatives have an important role to play in public awareness and must ensure that the grievances of the people are brought to the fore.
The DC visited the fair price shops and inspected the working of POS machines. He also took stock of the quality of ration provided, timelines for ration supply and display of various important guidelines at the FPS store.
It is in place to mention that the Vigilance Awareness fortnight is being observed between 7th and 21st February with deliberations being held in all the panchayats. 74 panchayats have already been covered and the rest of the panchayats will be covered in the coming days.
The program was attended by AD Food, DIO Anantnag, PRI members and members of the civil society.
