Sanjeev Verma conducts extensive tour of Udhampur distt, assesses progress on several ongoing works

Udhampur  : Commissioner Secretary Forests, Ecology and Environment, Sanjeev Verma Saturday held an extensive tour of Udhampur district and assessed the progress on several ongoing schemes and works in the district.
During the tour, the Commissioner Secretary visited Majalta, Kud, other areas of district and inspected various works under CAMPA, Har Gaon Haryali through One Beat Guard One Village Programme, Convergence for Forestry activities under MGNERGA and several other related works.
The Commissioner Secretary Forests was accompanied by Chief Conservator of Forests, Jammu B.M Sharma; Director Social Forestry, Roshan Jaggi; Director Water and Soil Conservation, Dr. T. Ashok Kumar; DFO Jammu Anoop Soni; DFO Udhampur, Smt. Shaveta Jandyal; DFO Social Forestry Udhampur; Abhinav Ramyotra and other senior officers of the forest department.
While interacting with the officers during the tour, the Commissioner Secretary directed CCF Jammu to have an integrated and holistic treatment plan for the catchment area under the jurisdiction of Forests, Social Forestry and Wildlife departments. He further asked him to plant more indigenous species of Bamboo, Khair, Dhaman, Wild fruit plants and others so that moisture regime of the area is improved which shall be beneficial for the locals and Wildlife of the area also.
During the tour, the Commissioner Secretary also participated in ceremonial plantation of Bhor and Rudrakash plants and held an impressive interactive meet with Village Panchayat Plantation Committees (VPPCs), PRIs and students at Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Majalta.
BDC Chairman, Captain Sh. Dina Nath, DDC Member Advocate Sh. Amit Sharma alongwith Sarpanches, Panches, Village Panchayat Plantation Committees of Peoni, Majalta, Satrasi and Bharnara and large number of locals participated in this interaction.
While interacting with the locals and PRI representatives, the Commissioner Secretary assured them that all of their genuine demands will be resolved on priority and asked them for constant co-operation for department for protecting our green gold.
Later on, Sanjeev Verma also held an interaction with PRIs, Village Panchayat Plantation Committees and locals of Upper Kud, Lower Kud, Karlah, Panchite and Mada at Dak Bunglow Kud.
During the interaction BDC raised various demands of public importance like road connectivity, bridal paths, firewood depot at Karlah and Gorikund areas, promotion of tourism activities including development of parks, fencing of forest areas along circular road, treatment of soil erosion etc with the Commissioner Secretary.
While interacting with the PRIs and locals, the Commissioner Secretary assured them that all of their genuine demands of public importance will be looked into and resolved on priority.
