Pakal Dul HEP: Chairman NGTMC reviews implementation of environment protection norms at construction site

Jammu  : The Chairman, National Green Tribunal Monitoring Committee (NGTMC), Justice (Retd.) Janak Raj Kotwal, on Saturday chaired a meeting to review the implementation of environmental protection measures in and around the construction site of Pakal Dul Hydroelectric Project, Kishtwar.
The meeting was attended by officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Pollution Control Committee, Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt. Ltd, District Administration, Kishtwar and the executing agencies/contractors of the Project.
Issues related to environmental aspects involved in execution of the project, with particular reference to disposal and dumping of muck generated in the construction process were discussed thoroughly in the meeting.
The Chairman impressed upon the officers of the project and the executing agencies to dump the muck at the designated dumping sites and ensure their scientific maintenance. He further directed for strict adherence to the conditions laid down in the environment clearance for construction of the project granted by the Government of India, Ministry of Environment and Forests.
The meeting was attended by Sat Paul, Regional Director, JK PCC Jammu; Rajat Gupta, Managing Director CVPPPL; Dr. Mohsin Raza, SDM Marwah; Arindomchakraborty DGM, Pakal Pul Project Kishtwar; Ravindra Chauhan, Project Manager, AFCONS and other officers.
