Drug peddler arrested in Awantipora, contraband substance recovered: Police

Awantipora : Police on Friday said that it has arrested a drug peddler and also recovered contraband substance from his possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that acting on a specific information, a Police party of PS Awantipora arrested one drug peddler identified as Nisar Ahmad Khanday son of Gh Hassan resident of Chersoo Awantipora and recovered 15Kgs Poppy Straw from his possession, stating therein further that said accused has been shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that a case vide FIR No. 19/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora and further investigation has been initiated, police in the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
