Sopore : Police on Friday said that it has arrested four gamblers in Sopore and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Friday police said that while acting on specific inputs about gambling activities in orchards at Sangrama, a police party under the supervision of SDPO Sopore raided the gambling site and arrested four gamblers. Stating that officers have seized stake money of ₹1,03,000/- and playing cards from the gamblers identified as Mohd Ramzan Bhat son of Gh Mohd Bhat resident of Arampora Sopore, Bilal Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Subhan Bhat resident of Chinkipora Sopore, Feroz Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Maqbool Ganie resident of Hathishah Ningli and Nasrat Rasool Sofi son of Gh Rasool Sofi resident of Panjipor, Police in its statement further said that all the accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Police in it’s statement also said that a case vide FIR No. 13/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of its statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood, but warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.
