DC B’pora reviews functioning of Health Sector, Stresses on improvement of Health indicators at Panchayat level

Bandipora  : The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad on Wednesday took a detailed review of the functioning of the Department of Health and the healthcare services being provided by the department to the people in the district.
Threadbare discussions were held with regard to various health indicators of the district and individual performance of various 102 health institutions of the district, including District Hospital, 27 NTPHCs and 71 sub centres during the meeting.
Dr Owais took details regarding various health indicators, including infant mortality rate, maternal mortality rate and other common diseases especially among women and children.
He said that the district is monitoring basic development indexes of the district at Panchayat level in the Panchayat Development Index, with health being the prime indicator. He urged the officers to track the progress of health outcomes and health system performances at the local level so that shortcomings are identified and resolved at the Panchayat level.
He said the aim of tracking the health outcome besides other indicators is to develop a health competition among Panchayats and encourage cross learning among different Panchayats so as to develop the Health Index Score for overall improvement in healthcare services in the district. He directed the concerned officers to stress on screening health indicators to achieve the 100 percent target.
Dr. Owais lauded the efforts of the health care workers during the last two years to fight the pandemic. He said to the healthcare workers from doctors to Asha workers, everyone has been on toes to fight the pandemic. He urged the medical staff not to lower the guard and urged them to continue to work with extra zeal to fight the disease and stressed on extensive testing to track the virus
Regarding the covid vaccination, officers informed that the vaccination of the 18 plus age group has been completed, while booster doses are being given to the eligible population besides vaccinating the 15-17 Years Old age groups.
DC also took a feedback about the implementation of various schemes and programmes under National Health Mission including Janan Suraksha Yojana, Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram, National Viral Hepatitis Programme besides covid containment measures, vaccination and testing.
On the occasion, threadbare deliberations were held on present status and achievements made under AB-PMJAY-SEHAT in the Bandipora district. The meeting discussed in detail the modalities for speeding up the registration for SEHAT scheme and directions were passed on to all the concerned to redouble efforts to achieve 100 percent target of registration of beneficiaries under the scheme in the district.
He directed to enhance the registration of left out populace, if any, in the Ayushman Bharat Scheme.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, Chief Medical Officer Dr Bashir Ahmad, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Block Medical Officers and other senior officers of the district were present on the occasion.
