5 gamblers arrested in Baramulla, seize stake money: police

Baramulla  : Police on Wednesday said that it has arrested five gamblers in Baramulla and also seized stake money from their possession.
In a statement issued on Wednesday police said that acting on specific information, police parties from Police Station Pattan/ Kunzer raided gambling sites at Singhpora Pattan & Chichiloora Kunzer following an input about gambling activities and apprehended five gamblers. Stating that officers have seized stake money of ₹25,170/- and playing cards from the gamblers, police in it’s statement further said that all the accused have been shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody, stating therein further that cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigation has been initiated.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding gambling activities in their neighbourhood, but warned that people found indulging in gambling activities will be dealt as per law , stating therein further that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law.
