Baramulla : Police on Saturday said that it has busted a militant module in Baramulla and also arrested two accused besides recovering contrabands worth Rs 18 crores from their possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that police party of PS Uri and PP Kamalkote headed by SHO PS Uri were on Saturday patrolling the area from Dachi towards Basgran and during the patrolling, two vehicles Celero-X bearing registration No. JK09C-1584 and Alto bearing registration No. JK05G-0247 were found on a link road towards Dachi in a suspicious condition following which olice patrolling party moved towards the vehicles, but after seeing the Police party both the drivers tried to flee from the spot. Stating that due to timely action of the alert Police party both the said persons were apprehended tactfully , police in the above referred statement further said that during searches searches Three (03) packets of contraband apparently Heroin was recovered from Celerio vehicle and Five (05) packets of contraband apparently Heroin was recovered from Alto vehicle mentioned above, stating therein further that in total 8 packets of contraband weighing approximately about 9Kgs was recovered.
“The cost of the contraband in black market is about 18 crores”, reads the police statement, adding that “both the said persons were questioned on the spot and during questioning the driver of the Alto car revealed his name as Mohd Sabir Barwal son of Faqeer Ali resident of Jabda Kamalkote Tehsil Uri and Driver of the Celerio car revealed his name as Parvaiz Ahmad Tantray son of Ghulam Nabi Tantray resident of Reban Rafiabad Sopore.
Stating that during their personal search mobile phones, one cheque to the tune of rupees ₹5 lacs and one Adhaar Card was recovered from the possession of Mohd Sabir Barwal, police in the above quoted statement furthermore said that seven cheques amounting to ₹9,79,500/- two blank cheques, 01 cheque book containing 22 leaves, one Adhaar card, one cell phone, Pan Card, e-sharam card, 02 ATM cards, 01 Kisan Card, 01 Debit Card and other documents were recovered from the possession of Parvaiz Ahmad Tantary, stating therein further that in this regard case FIR No.17/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered and investigation has been taken up.
