Choudhary Dairy Farm becomes epitome of success in Ramban

Ramban  : Belonging to a family with an agricultural background, there has been no looking back for Maznoor Ahmed, who at the very beginning had the idea of becoming an entrepreneur by establishing a dairy farm.
According to Manzoor Ahmed, he is 12th pass and runs a Dairy Farm in the name of Choudhary Dairy Farm at Bankoot, Banihal. “I had a small dry fruit shop but that was not enough to meet my family needs and after taking guidance from the Animal Husbandry Department, I decided to start a dairy farm unit” narrates Manzoor.
Manzoor Ahmed met with the officers and field functionaries of Animal Department Ramban and took proper guidance from them to start a small Dairy Unit. “The Animal Husbandry Department provided me with all benefits of dairy farming schemes and guidance to manage the dairy farm on scientific lines.
Manzoor Ahmed started his farm with 4 cows. Later the Animal Husbandry Department sanctioned 4 units of 20 cows for his farm under Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS) which he purchased from Punjab. “Adding of hybrid cattle heads helped me in doubling daily milk production and income as well” he said with great confidence. The Department also guided him in making cattle shed on scientific lines.
At present, Manzoor sells around 200 liter milk per day in the Banihal Market and records Rs 3.00 Lakh monthly sales with smart profits. Manzoor has engaged four local people to manage the daily work of the farm and taking care of cows. Department has sanctioned one more dairy unit of five cows in his favour, Manzoor added.
Manzoor proudly informed that now he is able to provide all necessary comforts of life to his family members.
“I am very thankful to the Government for providing me financial assistance for expanding my dairy farming work. Now I have planned to enhance my dairy to a modern dairy farming and install all machines like milking machine, Milk Cooler, ATM milk machine and Genset” he added. He also gets full support of his family in carrying out the business.
The dairy farm has also helped Manzoor to increase agriculture production and income from the 10 Kanal agricultural land with the availability of enough organic manoeuvres at his dairy farm.
Moreover, Manzoor is very keen on adopting several other technologies that would help him reap more dividends and ease his inputs. On the basis of his experience in dairy farming, he considers dairying as a promising solution to the growing unemployment. Manzoor has also become a source of inspiration for many local youth for establishing agro based enterprise.
Dr. Bharat Bhushan Raina said that Dairy farming requires good capital investment. For this, Farmers can take loan assistance under many ongoing Government schemes. The Government is promoting the dairy farming business and has come up with many subsidy schemes, loan schemes, and other support schemes for the dairy farming businesses, he added.
On the directions of Deputy Commissioner, Ramban, Mussarat Islam, the Department of Animal Husbandry Ramban is extending handholding to many farmers to realize their dream of setting up a dairy farm under Integrated Dairy Development Scheme (IDDS) of the department, the CAHO said adding that in fact the dairy farming has proved a game changer for many farmers.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, Mussarat Islam several young people are coming to take advantage of employment oriented schemes, especially in Agriculture and allied sectors by taking inspiration from successful agropreneurs like Manzoor, Kartar Singh and Nadir Bakerwal.
