5 drug peddlers arrested in G’bal &B’gam, Contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar : Police on Tuesday said that it has arreasted five drud peddlers in Ganderbal and Budgam districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that officers at a checkpoint established at Satkreeri Badampora intercepted a vehicle(Wagon-R)bearing registration number JK16-5580 with two persons on board identified as Showkat Ahmad Ganie Son of Sonaullah Ganie resident of Baroosa and Imran Shah son of Ijaz Shah resident of Bijnor UP A/P Panzinara Srinagar, stating therein further that during checking 200 capsules of Spasmoproxyvon Plus and 24 bottles ofCodeine Phosphate were recovered from their possession.
Stating that in yet another similar action in Budgam district officers at a checkpoint established at Takanwari Gundiroshan Road intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number DL7C-9184 with two persons on board and upon checking recovered 312 banned Capsules and 17 bottles of Codeine Phosphate from theirpossession, police in it’s statement further said that the said accused persons were identified as Syed Hussain Shah@Ulfi son ofSyed Ashiq resident of Dab Wakoora and Javid Ahmad Malik son of Mohd Shafi resident of Panzinara Srinagar and arrested later following which they were shifted to police station where they remain incustody, stating therein further that vehicles used in the commission of crime have also been seized.
Police in it’s above quoted statement also said that in yet another similar incident officers from PS Chadoora during patrolling arrested a drug peddler along with 14Kgs of grinded Cannabis Powder near Kralpora Petrol Pump and identified him as Sahil Amin Ganie son of MohammadAmin Ganie resident of Tanghar Kralpora.
“Cases under relevant sections of law stands registered at respective police stations and investigation have been initiated “reads the police statement .
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police warned that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
