Jammu Director General of Police Dilbag Singh has sanctioned Rs 38 lacs ex-gratia relief to dependents/legal heirs of a Police officer killed in the line of duty and Rs 40 lacs as Special Welfare Relief to four Police personnel/SPOs. The DGP has also sanctioned Special Welfare Loan/Relief in favour of three Police personnel for their treatment.
According to an order issued from Police Headquarters Rs 38 lakh as ex-gratia relief has been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of PSI Arshad Ashraf Mir who was killed in a militant attack at Khanyar, Srinagar.
According to a police statement issued on Saturday special Welfare Relief of rupees 22 lakh has been also sanctioned in favour of dependents/legal heirs of deceased Police personal SgCt. Ashani Kumar who passed away while in service due to health-related issues.
“Besides Special Relief of Rupees 6 lakh each has also been sanctioned in favour of NoKs of deceased SPOs Karam Chand, Neeraj Kumar and Rakesh Kumar who passed away during the course of their engagement with the department”, reads the above referred police statement, adding that “ Out of this amount (special welfare relief) rupees one lakh to the NoKs deceased police personnel and rupees fifty thousand each to the families/NoKs of SPOs has already been paid for performing the last rites as immediate relief by the PHQ through their concerned units/Districts”, stating therein further that “the financial assistance has been given out of the Contributory Police Welfare Fund”.
Police in it’s statement furthermore said that DGP has also sanctioned financial assistance of rupees 1.50 lakh each in favour of two personnel as welfare loan who are suffering from different ailments, adding therein that besides rupees twenty five thousand each has also been sanctioned as welfare relief in their favour and another policeman for the purpose of self treatment.
“Police Headquarters is running many schemes for the welfare of its personnel and their families. There are also schemes for the wards of Police personnel and SPOs. Besides, there are schemes for the NoKs of those killed in the line of duty , their wards and also for the retired Police personnel and their spouses”, reads the concluding para of the statement.
