Baramulla : Police on Saturday said that it has arrested a drug peddler in Baramulla and also recovered contraband substances from his possession, stating there in further that four gambers were also arrested from whom take money has been seized.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that officers at a checkpoint established in the jurisdiction of PS Pattan arrested a drug peddler and identified him as Sayar Ahmad Bhat son of Ab Rahman Bhat resident of WagumPulwama and also recovered 20gms of Brown Sugar from his possession following which he was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
“Meanwhile acting on specific information, police party from Police Station Baramulla raided a gambling site at Binner following an input about gambling activities and apprehended four gamblers”, reads the above referred police statement, adding that “Officers also seized stake money of ₹9900/- and playing cards from the gamblers who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody”.
Stating that cases under relevant sections of law stands registered in respective police stations and investigation have been initiated, police in the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement said that people found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law and subsequently appealed people to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
