NAHEP-IDP SKUAST Jammu organises lecture on agri-preneurship

Jammu : NAHEP-IDP SKUAST-Jammu and the Counselling and Placement Cell, under the guidance of Prof. J P Sharma, Vice Chancellor, organised online guest lecture for the students on “Introduction to Agri-preneurship and Startup Ecosystem”.
The lecture was delivered by Dr.SagarDeshmukh, Faculty (Agri-Business Management), MANAGE, Hyderabad.
In his lecture, Dr.Deshmukh gave a comprehensive account of the agri-preneurship process and government initiatives. He also talked about the startup ecosystem and requirements for an entity to be classified under startup. He further discussed benefits associated with startups such as self-certification, fast track filing of patents and rebate in patent fee, easier public procurement norms, income tax exemption etc. Dr.Deshmukh also referred to different components of the startup ecosystem, resource availability, startup process and different center government schemes such as Agri Clinic &Agri Business Centre Scheme, RKVY Raftar etc. After the lecture there was a healthy interaction in which Dr.Deshmukh answered the queries of students about startups.
Earlier, Prof.Vikas Sharma, Associate Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP&HoD, Soil Science & Agricultural Chemistry gave an overview of the NAHEP-IDP project and welcomed the esteemed speaker and participants.
In his concluding remarks, Prof. B. C. Sharma, Coordinator, NAHEP-IDP&HoD, Agronomy, highlighted that Agripreneurship has potential to generate growth, diversifying income, providing widespread employment and entrepreneurial opportunities. The lecture was attended by more than 80 participants including students and faculty members and convened by Prof. Sanjay Guleria, Incharge, Counselling & Placement Cell and Associated Scientist NAHEP-IDP.
