Educational Institutions, depts organise Flag hoisting, cultural progs to celebrate R- Day

Jammu :Educational Institutions and Government departments organised Flag hoisting and cultural programs to celebrate Republic Day across Jammu Division. The Republic Day functions in the Educational Institutions witnessed presentation of patriotic songs, theme based skits and musical performances during the celebration held in strict adherence to Covid Appropriate Behaviour.
Govt Polytechnic College Kishtwar: Principal Government Polytechnic College Kishtwar, Engr. H A Bhardwaj along with staff members and students hoisted the Tricolor which was followed by singing of the National Anthem. This entailed a short celebration including a Dance recital and a Musical performance by students with due adherence to the COVID-19 SOPs. The Principal of the Institute, while speaking on the occasion, recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs who laid down their lives for winning Independence for the countrymen. He highlighted the importance of the constitution and opined that ‘we as Indians are fortunate to have one of the largest and finest constitutions of the world.’ He urged the students to read the constitution to know the provisions kept for the welfare of citizens and the welfare of the Nation as a whole. The students were advised to adhere to the duties enshrined in the Constitution. The vote of thanks was delivered by Engr. Sanjay Gupta, HOD of the Institute.
SKUAST-Jammu: SKUAST-Jammu celebrated 73rd Republic Day with great fervor and gaiety. Vice- Chancellor, Prof. J.P. Sharma extended his Republic Day greetings to the Teaching and Non- Teaching staff of the university. The Republic Day ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the National flag followed by singing of the National Anthem. In his address, Prof. Sharma highlighted that the share of agriculture in the economy of J&K has increased to 30 per cent in 2021, which was only 25 per cent. He informed that as per NITI Ayog report Jammu and Kashmir UT has secured third place in all India ranking in terms of farmers’ family earnings which highlights the importance of agriculture in the development of UT. He briefed that projects worth Rs.37 crores have been sanctioned by DST, DBT, NABARD and other funding agencies for the Agrivarsity and more are in pipeline. “It is the consistent hard work and dedication of the scientists that has won numerous projects for the university,” he commented. In view of the consistent rising demand for organic products from consumers, he advised the scientists to develop a vision document on natural farming and motivate farmers to adopt natural farming. He impressed that need based and proven technological interventions should reach from lab to farmers’ field without time lag.
GCW Udhampur: The R- Day function was celebrated with gaiety and patriotism in the Government College for Women (GCW), Udhampur. Principal of the college, Prof. MinuMahajan hoisted the National flag and took the salute. The Principal GCW Udhampur informed that a contingent of 32 NCC cadets of 1st and 2nd NCC Battalions of GCW Udhampur participated in the main function of the R-Day celebration at GDC Udhampur. The marching contingents were led by Senior under Officer TanishaMankotia and Senior under Officer Vaishali Sharma. Prof. MinuMahajan also appreciated the efforts of the cadets and encouraged them to display the highest qualities of character, maturity aned selfless service as well as the highest standards of discipline and conduct, maintaining a spirit of camaraderie and teamwork cutting across the barriers of region, language. Among others, HoD Physic, Dr. Anita Sharma, HoD, Dr.Mool Raj, Assistant Prof. Suneel Singh, Assistant Prof. SumitaRao, other senior faculty members and non-teaching staff were also present on the occasion.
Horticulture Department Jammu: Horticulture Department Jammu celebrated Republic Day with full gaiety and favour at Directorate of Horticulture, TalabTillo, Jammu. Director Horticulture, Jammu unfurled the National flag. He emphasized on the importance of Republic Day and highlighted the achievements of the current year. Joint Director Horticulture, Jammu, Deputy Director (Adm| Plg), Deputy Director Horticulture (Central), Jammu and other District and Block level officers were also present on the occasion.
