Though over 6500 cases and 14 deaths a day is a single day record during last three years of covid pandemic in Jammu & Kashmir but unfortunately highly irresponsible remarks by responsible public men over the enforcement of covid protocols are mounting anxieties among people day after day across Jammu & Kashmir. Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) and J&K Private Schools Association Kashmir (PSAJK) declaring Omicron the new variant of Covid-19 pandemic a low intensity virus amid unprecedented rise in the no of daily cases and fatalities just to demand restoration of in person teaching and return to pre-covid normalities is not only objectionable but also shocking and saddening. Even if there is an expert opinion about the low intensity of the Omicron variant of the covid pandemic the responsible public men exercising even a little bit of influence over certain sections of people are not supposed to publicly demand return to pre-covid normalities amid unending rise inthe no of cases and fatalities as such statements are bound to intensify the tendencies of covid protocol violations in Jammu & Kashmir and several other parts of the country. Though Jammu & Kashmir Government has been reiterating time and again that it won’t lower guard against covid-pandemic till the entire country is declared covid free, but responsible public men issuing irresponsible statements for lifting covid restrictions are virtually fueling the tendencies of the violations of covid protocols. Knowing that Lt Governor Manoj Sinha is himself reviewing covid situation on weekly basis just to ensure strict enforcement of covid protocols for the purposes of reducing the intensity of the virus spread across Jammu & Kashmir the responsible public men are supposed to exercise restraint over sensitive issue of covid protocols directly influencing the health safety of the millions of people including children and senior citizens of above 60 years of age.
To further the causes of strict enforcement of covid protocols for the purposes of reducing the ongoing high intensities of the covid spread in Jammu & Kashmir it would be better for the government to impose restrictions on public statements relating to covid-19 protocols without a formal consent from the State Health Agency directly overseeing the enforcement of covid protocols in Jammu & Kashmir.
Though education of children is priority for any government in any part of the world but the irrefutable fact is the health safety of the children is to be preferred over their education as finally life comes first and public activities are down in the priority list of human concerns and as such enforcement of covid protocols is to be preferred over all public activities in the current wave of the pandemic showing unprecedented rise day after day and week after across Jammu & Kashmir.
