DLSA Kathua hosts Webinar on National Girl Child Day

Kathua  : To mark the National Girl Child Day observed to commemorate the anniversary of flagship ‘BetiBadhao, BetiPadhao’ scheme of GOI, an online webinar was organised by District Legal Services Authority Kathua in collaboration with Chief Education Office.
About 150 teachers of different schools of the district participated in the event which was supervised by PoojaRaina, Secretary, DLSA, Kathua& was anchored by Anita Pangotra, Teacher, GHS Logate.
Advocate SumitJasrotia was the key speaker on the occasion. She presented her views on the condition of women in India & enlightened the audience on various legal measures & constitutional provisions in place for the safety, enhancement & support of the girl child. She urged the stakeholders in education department to familiarize themselves with these measures & provisions & sensitize the society as they have a large social impact & a vast outreach.
SunitaKumari, ZICC Hiranagar& Teacher, GHS Sherpur also spoke on the occasion & shared the details about the beginning & importance of NGCD & informed the participants regarding various schemes available for the girl child.
P.L. Thapa, CEO Kathua also addressed the audience & appreciated the role of teachers and the contributions towards the development of the noble initiative and its implementation. He also thanked the administrations of schools & respective HOIs at all levels for making the endeavor a success & wished such programs to continually improve the education system & society on the whole.
He said that the National Girl Child Day was initiated by the Government of India in the year 2008 to address the adverse situation of girl child in India. It focuses on remedies to the inequalities faced by girls, promotes awareness about the rights of the girl child and emphasizes on the importance of girl education, their safety, health & nutrition. He also enlightened the audience on the goals of NGCD 2022 as a nation-wide celebration with objectives of generating awareness on the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio (CSR) &create a positive environment around valuing the girl child and is being celebrated in the backdrop of 75 years of independence ‘AzaadiKaAmritMahotsav.’
PawanVivek, DRG Kathua& Monika Khosla District Co-ordinator provided technical support in making the event successful along with SatishChandel, Senior Lecturer & Manish Kashyap, Teacher, GHS Lower Rajwalta.
