DDC VC Udhampur bats for devising community-specific dev plans

Udhampur  : Juhi Manhas Pathania, Vice Chairperson DDC Udhampur today underscored the need for focusing on practically feasible works which are for community welfare and serve the purpose of ‘greatest good of greatest number’ while formulating the development plans.
She was addressing a meeting of PRIs/people of Block Khoon at PanchayatBhawanDhemma. She asked the departments to improve their working. She noted that the response of some departments was poor in the last list of the plans. She exhorted the departments to ensure the presence of the nodal officers at the PRI meetings. She stressed the departments ‘to plan more and spend more’ to make the difference visible on the ground. She said that this approach needs to be followed religiously by PRIs/nodal officers of line departments. She further informed the PRIs/people that JalJeevanMission is going to start on ground with the tender process alomost complete and allotments being made to the eligible contractors. She called upon line departments as well as PRIs to ensure that good quality work is executed on ground so that the goal of PM NarendraModi ‘HarGharKoNal’ is actualised on ground.
She sought timely disbursement of amounts in bank accounts of beneficiaries of various centrally sponsored schemes.
Meanwhile, the local PRIs demanded early completion of Khoon to Nardi road, electrification and augmentation in low voltage pockets of Khoon block. Moreso, monitoring the quality of work on Dhemma to Thial road, Sanote to GharSambhnaBanj road, Hamdana to Panjian road and Panjian to Nokain road.
The PRIs further demanded immediate making up of deficiencies by contractor agencies which have incurred in the defect liability periods.
The PRIs further demanded legal action against the officers/contractor agencies at PanjianNokain, PMGSY road who have suspended the drinking water supply lines of the people of the area. The PRIs also called for making good the deficiencies/irregularities having incurred while putting in place the mechanical part of the water supply scheme in SK Ber.
Pathania called upon the concerned officers to be more responsive and sensitive towards the public needs and exigencies. She further asked them to work with great zeal and enthusiasm as the people of the area have high hopes on PRIs/local officers. The officers from RDD, PHE, PDD, Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Sheep Husbandry, Sports, Education, etc Departments were alro present. Romesh Gupta, Mohan Lal, Raman Khajuria, Chain Singh, Ashok Singh (all sarpanches) addressed the meeting and put forth their views.
