BGSBU Celebrates 73rd Republic Day

Rajouri | Jan,26 : Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University celebrated Republic Day with patriotic fervour and gaiety. Vice Chancellor of the University ,Prof. Akbar Masood  unfurled the National Flag in the campus.

Speaking on the occasion, Prof. Akbar extended  the greetings  to the BGSB University fraternity celebrating 73rd  Republic Day. In his address ,Prof. Akbar highlighted the importance of this day in every Indian’s life. He said that 26th January has a great significance in the history of India as on this day in 1950 India adopted its constitution and became a sovereign, secular and largest democratic republic in the world.He said that the development that India has witnessed since its independence is commendable. He said that India is a great nation with great destiny.  Addressing to the gathering , Prof. Akbar said that we should see how best to use our freedom for public good- not just in terms of educating larger numbers of our citizenry, but also to bring about important interventions in the public space for the greater benefits of the society  and to strengthen  the fabric of the Republic.On the occasion,  Prof. Akbar congratulated Mr. Waqar Khan, an alumnus of the University who has been conferred with prestigious Jammu and Kashmir Government Award for his outstanding contribution in performing arts. Prof. Akbar also congratulated Dr. Rafiq Anjum, Assistant Professor Department of Islamic Studies, BGSBU  and Mr. Ashfaq Mehmood an alumnus of BGSBU for bagging awards for there  outstanding contribution in the field of literature and  Science and Technology respectively from  the department of Tribal Affairs,Govt. Of Jammu and Kashmir .The event was held  observing the covid-19 SOPs.
