Kulgam : Police on Monday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and also recovered contraband substances and illicit liquor from their possession.
In a statement issued on Monday police said that on a specific input, a Police Party from Police Station Qazigund conducted a raid at specific location in village Check BadwaniQazigund and upon checking 2Kgs of Poppy Straw and 45 bottles of illicit liquor were recovered from the residential house besides arresting two persons identified as Nisar Ahmad Mir son of GhMohmad Mir resident of Telwani Anantnag AP Badwani Qazigund and Mohamad Yaseen Malik son of Gh Ahmad Malik resident of Chek Badwani Qazigund.
Stating that the above named accused have been shifted to police station where they remain in custody, police in it’s statement further said that a case vide FIR No. 12/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Qazigund and investigation is in progress.
In the concluding para of it’s above referred statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found involved in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions are taken against drug peddlers to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
