2 drug peddlers arrested in Srinagar: Police

Srinagar| Jan, 22: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Srinagar and also recovered contraband substance from their possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that a police party of Police Station Shaheedgunj at a checkpoint established at Jahangir Chowk intercepted two suspicious persons who on seeing police party tried to escape from the spot but were apprehended tactfully by the alert police party and identified them as Amjid Dar resident of Tanghdar Karnah & Arif Maqsood Khan resident of Kandi Karnah.
“During checkin 17gms of Heroin were recovered from the possession of the above named accuse who were arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody” reads the above referred police statement, adding that “ a case vide FIR No. 06/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Shaheedgunj and investigation has been also initiated”.
In the concluding para of it’s above quoted statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
Police register case after back-to-back theft incidents in Srinagar locality
Srinagar, Jan 22, KNT: Police have registered a case and taken up the investigation after the back-to-back burglary incidents in Zakura locality of Srinagar outskirts.
Locals from Syed Pora Batapora area of Zakura said that burglars have struck 4 times in a week in the area. They said burglars decamped with cash and jewelry from 3 residential houses.
“Yesterday, burglars looted cash from a donation box inside the shrine of Mir Syed Hussain Hasnani.
They demanded stringent punishment for culprits.
When contacted, a police officer told news agency Kashmir News Trust that cognizance has already been taken and formal FIR stands registered.
“Investigation is underway and the culprits will be identified and booked,” he said.
