SDRF celebrates ‘Annual Raising Day’

Srinagar : On the eve of Annual Raising Day of SDRF Wednesday, a colourful parade was held at State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Hqrs. Barzulla Srinagar.On the occasion, the Jawans were asked to remain vigilant while dealing with rescue work.
Giving a brief of the history of SDRF, it was given out that in the year 2012; two erstwhile Auxiliary Bn’s were converted into Two State Disaster Response Force Bns. One is located at Jammu and another at Kashmir. The aim of the SDRF is to respond quickly to any disaster whether natural or manmade.
SDRF personnel remain available at all District Hqrs to assist local administration at all times of emergencies. During free time SDRF personnel conduct awareness programmes, mock drills, and impart training to the general public to deal with small types of disasters.
Giving details of the rescue operations and other awareness programmes conducted in the year 2021, it was given out that during the year 2021, 54 rescue operations were conducted by SDRF personnel in Kashmir Valley in which 30 dead bodies were recovered besides 84 Awareness Programmes and 14 Mock Drills have also been conducted in which 4797 people were trained by SDRF.
Under the Go Green Srinagar initiative, SDRF has conducted 04 cleanliness drives at Shankar Acharya Hills Srinagar and River Jhelum.
