2 drug peddlers arrested in Ganderbal, Pulwama contraband substances recovered :Police

Pulwama: Police on Saturday said that it has arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal and Pulwama and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Saturday police said that officers from Police Station Ganderbal at a checkpoint established at Syed Kadal intercepted one person identified as Showkat Ahmad Shah son of Gh Ahmad Shah resident of Harran Ganderbal and upon checking recovered 250 grams of Charas from his possession who was arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody. Police in it’s statement also said that a case vide FIR No.03/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Ganderbal and further investigation has been taken up.
Stating that in yet another similar incident in Pulwama district the officers from Police Station Kakapora during patrolling in Hunipora Wanpora intercepted one person who tried to flee from the spot but the alert police party arrested him tactfully, police in it’s statement further said that upon checking, officers recovered 5.1kgs of Poppy Straw from the possession of the above named accused who was identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganaie son of Mohd Akbar Ganaie resident of Wanpora Pulwama.
“During preliminary investigation the accused person disclosed that he has hidden more contraband substances in his residential house”, reads the police statement, adding that “ the Police party raided the accused residential house and recovered 9.4kgs of Poppy straw”, stating therein further that a case FIR No.03/2022 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kakapora and further investigation set into motion.
In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that consisstent actions against drug peddlers are taken to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
