Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera holds meeting on updation of Peoples’ Bio-diversity Register

Nowshera | :Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera, Neelima Shah held a meeting of newly pass out Forest Guards, who have been assigned the task of updation of Peoples’ Bio-diversity Registers, here at Nowshera.
The objective of the meeting was to train and guide the newly pass out Forest Guards in the updating of the already prepared PBRs.
The Divisional Forest officer guided the participants on the objectives of BMC, their role in preparation of PBRs and the methodology for holding the meeting of Bio-diversity Management Committees.
She also emphasized on holding meetings with all the stakeholders of the particular BMC along with the persons having local traditional knowledge. She also told them to hold separate meetings with women folk as they have local knowledge of curing number of ailments by using local available resources.
The PBR is a very important document which needs to be updated carefully. It contains the data pertaining to all the biological resources available within the jurisdiction of a particular BMC.
The data pertaining to depletion of resources should be specially highlighted in PBR.
RakeshVerma, Range Officer Sunderabni. provided the hard copy of already updated PBR to Forest guards. He said that the existing PBR will further help in updation of their PBRs. He said that the staff of Sunderabni Forest Range has previously done the exercise of updation of PBR and now they are readily available to help in further updation.
Divisional Forest Officer Nowshera handed over hard copies of respective PBR to Forest Guards. She also told them to update the data on excel sheet in prescribed formats so that it could be timely submitted to the J&K Biodiversity Council. The meeting was also attended by Sudesh Kumar Range Officer Nowshera.
