Response to the unprecedented rise in covid cases and arrival of Omicron the new variant of covid-19 pandemic in Jammu & Kashmir has attracted equally unprecedented response from none else than Lt Governor Manoj Sinha who has directed members of Covid Task Force, Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents Of police in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division to immediately activate war rooms for quick response to the emerging covid-19 situation across both the regions.  Functionality of the covid helplines and enforcement of covid containment guidelines as directed by the Lt Governor would though hopefully reduce the unprecedented rise in the ongoing wave of the covid-19 pandemic but all depends on the response of the the covid containment teams in the hospitals and as well as people . Since Lt Governor himself has asked people to follow covid containment guidelines for the purposes of reducing the scope for yet another covid lockdown in Jammu & Kashmir, it is for the people to respond well to the covid containment guidelines with the intent of not letting the government to once again close down business operations in Jammu & Kashmir. Overwhelming public response to Covid containment guidelines won’t only reduce the increasing spread of the Omicron the new variant of the pandemic but would also reduce the scope for more curbs on business operations and consequently more people won’t be deprived of the livelihood opportunities in major business houses in Jammu & Kashmir.  Lt Governor himself closely monitoring the ongoing fight against covid-19 pandemic has not only directed the working of war rooms to reduce the spread of the ongoing wave of the pandemic but has also directed the concerned authorities to maintain a close vigil even over the working of joint enforcement teams. Once the people tend to violate the covid containment guidelines the joint enforcement teams would be forced to impose lockdown in areas where no of cases would be unprecedentedly high by declaring them micro-containment zones and pandemic hotspots in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division.

From expanding testing facilities to the setting up of COVID hospitals and isolation centres, the Lt Governor has outsmarted all Lt Governor of Union Territories and Chief Ministers of several states in the ongoing fight the current wave of pandemic and the spread of Omicron the new variant of covid pandemic but procurement of drugs, sanitisers, equipment and protective gears matters the most the responsibility of which lies on health and medical education department. What matters the most is fact that availability of covid containment drugs and equipments and protective gears is more important than the response of the people to the covid containment guidelines for the enforcement.

The launch of booster dose of vaccine for people of 60 plus age groups by Lt Governor himself shows his seriousness in fight against pandemic and it is now for the people of 60 plus age group to seriously respond to the ongoing drive of booster dose of covid-vaccines for their own health safety. Response to the booster dose of covid vaccines and enforcement of covid containment guidelines would ultimately reduce the stress on both the pandemic spread and as well as business operations in Jammu & Kashmir.
