Srinagar | : Chairman People’s Democratic Front (PDF) Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen has expressed anguish over the demolition drive against the selected houses of Gujjar and Bakarwal community in Roopnagar area of Jammu by JDA.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Hakeem while slamming administration for its arbitrary action to demolish houses of Gujjar and Bakerwal community at Roopnagar Jammu by JDA, on the one hand government is mulling to settle non-locals in Jammu while on the other hand, the natives are being driven away from their land and uprooted from their homes and hearths .He has urged the government to desist from dismantling houses of Gujjar and Bakerwal community adding that such ill- conceived and anti- people decisions shall have serious repercussions.
He also said administration seems to be desperate to uproot nomadic tribes to create fear psychosis and pressurize them to toe on the tunes of a particular political party. “These arbitrary steps were being taken to appease a particular section of people for vote bank politics ,” Hakeem said.
He further added that such tactics to target selected minority communities have been experimented in past also to get political mileage .He said it was most unfortunate to uproot nomadic populace from their homes and hearths for satiating vested political interests.
