Doda | Jan, 12: District administration Doda has taken up execution of three Solid Waste Management Plants in major towns of DodaBhaderwah and Thathri under the District Environment Plan.
The information was given here at a meeting chaired by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Dr R K Bharti convened to review implementation of District Environmental Plan.
Threadbare discussion was held regarding action taken on execution of DEP in the district by different departments, which include Solid Waste management, Plastic waste management, Bio-medical Waste Management, Domestic Sewage Management and Water Waste Management etc.
It was informed that MC Doda has started execution of Material Requirement Facilities for Solid Waste Management plant. Similarly for Bhaderwah the establishment of Solid Waste Management Plant is at tendering process, while at Thathri the land for the establishment of the plant has been transferred to the concerned authorities and shall be tendered soon.
It was also revealed that MC Bhaderwah has launched an awareness program to discourage use of Plastic and Polythene Bags above 75 microns.
The meeting was also informed that the forest department has planted 35000 saplings during last month in the district under “One Beat Guard One village” program.
Stressing on water conservation, the ADC directed the concerned stakeholders to construct water harvesting ponds in rural areas and protect the water bodies from pollution.
