Awantipora : Police on Tuesday said that it has recovered an abducted girl within hours in South Kashmir’s Awantipora district and also arrested the accused.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that Police Station Awantipora on January 10, received a written complaint wherein the complainant stated that his daughter has been kidnapped by one person namely Sanju Singh son of Rai Singh resident of PundailGurdaspore Punjab and on receipt of the complaint, a case vide FIR No. 03/2022 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police Station Awantipora and investigation was initiated.
Stating that during the course of investigation, a police party headed by SHO PS Awantipora with the assistance of technical team tracked down the location of the accused person in Banihal area, police in it’s statement further said that a police team was dispatched to Banihal to rescue the abducted girl and recovered the kidnapped girl from Sheer Bebi Banihal and arrested the accused person involved in the commission of crime within 5 hours.
Police in the above referred statement also said that after fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl has been handed over to her legal heirs and further investigation into the matter is in progress, stating therein further that swift action by Police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals. In the concluding para of it’s statement police appealed people to cooperate with it in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood and advised them to share with it the information pertaining to social crimes with the assurance that measures to curb social crimes shall continue.
