Session on “precision agriculture” held at Lalmandi, Srinagar

Srinagar/: To deliberate and discuss the implementation of solutions by using the latest cutting edge technologies like satellite remote sensing, precision agriculture, drone technology, artificial intelligence in the agriculture sector, an interactive session was held at Directorate of Agriculture Lalmandi Srinagar. The session was chaired by Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal and the program was organised by Joint Directorate of Agriculture Extension in collaboration with a technologies based private company.
While expressing his views Director Agriculture marked the importance of precision agriculture. He said the minimum use of inputs (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides) to get the maximum output is important to serve the economic interests of farming community.
Director Agriculture said the use of real time technologies in the field of agriculture is inevitable for the progress and development of agriculture sector at large. The use of modern technologies like drone technologies and artificial intelligence in the field of agriculture could not only minimize the cost of cultivation for different crops but would also reduce the losses caused to the crops because of different infestations and diseases, he said and, added.
Director Agriculture impressed on the concerned officers to push the boundaries in terms of awareness regarding the use of technologies in crop cultivation. He said the maximum awareness among the farming community could play a vital role in the long term development of agriculture sector.
The representatives from technologies based private company and other stakeholders also expressed their views regarding the implementation of artificial intelligence and other modern technologies in the field of agriculture.
The Session was attended by Joint Director Agriculture Extension Sheikh Shahid Iqbal, Joint Director Agriculture Marketing Mohammad Qasim Gani, Joint Director Apiculture & Mushroom Mohammad Syeed Peer, Joint Director Agriculture Farms Dr. Syed Waseem Ahmad Shah, some senior officers and representatives of technology based private company.
