DDC Rajouri reviews functioning of I&C, AH Deptts

Epmphasis laid on measures for industrial promotion, livestock sector

Rajouri |: District Development Commissioner Rajouri, VikasKundal Thursday reviewed the working of Industries and Commerce and Animal Husbandry Departments here in separate meetings.
Taking stock of the functioning of the I&C department, the DDC inquired about the industrial estates functioning in the district. The Project Officer informed that there is one industrial estate in the district having 52 numbers of active industrial units.
He also informed that there are some units which have become defunct and the owners have been issued notice to make their units functional at the earliest.
Enquiring about the availability of land with the department, the Project Officer also apprised that 1552 kanal land at seven different locations is available with the department for development of industrial estates.
He asked the concerned officer to generate mass awareness among the public about the industrial promotion initiatives of the Government so that they can come forward and set up their industrial units on the available land.
The DDC also directed to keep a close vigil and take appropriate action if there is an illegal encroachment on industrial land.
Taking a review of the implementation of self-employment schemes, including Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program (PMEGP), the concerned officer informed that 215 cases have been sanctioned under PMEGP and all of them stand disbursed with the proper coordination of the banks. Similarly, the DDC also took a detailed review of the other schemes and programs being implemented by the department.
The DDC asked the concerned officers to educate the public about the self employment generation schemes and programs being implemented by the department in the district and motivate them to avail the necessary benefits of the same.
Meanwhile, the DDC chaired a meeting of the concerned officers to review the functioning of the Animal and Sheep Husbandry Department.
CPO, Mohammad Khurshid, CAHO, Dr FazalHussain besides other concerned officers attended the meeting.
Threadbare discussion on a number of schemes and programs being implemented by the department in the district including IDDS, IPDP, Feed and Fodder, NADCP, artificial insemination etc was held in the meeting.
Taking stock of the Integrated Dairy Development Scheme(IDDS), the meeting was informed that as many as 20 units have been set up in the district and the scheme is aimed to boost milk and milk products.
Discussing Integrated Poultry Development Program( IPDP), it was apprised that 07 units of the poultry birds are functioning in the district under the program and effective measures are being taken to increase this number to promote poultry sector in the district.
Under the Feed and Fodder scheme, as many as forty chef cutters have been distributed among the farmers and three nano feed plants have been set up in the district to provide feed at the doorsteps of the farmers so that they don’t have to go outside the district to get feed for the animals, the meeting was told.
Reviewing the progress made under National Animal Disease control program (NADCP), the CAHO informed that 90 percent of the cattle population in the district has been vaccinated free of cost against foot and mouth disease.
For the introduction of the Emu, Duck and Turkey, the DDC asked the concerned officer to keep ten samples of each bird in every subdivision on a trial basis to check the possibility of their survival in the district .
He also asked the concerned officer to take necessary steps for the promotion of milk and milk products in the district as the district has a huge potential in the dairy sector.
