DC Ang reviews COVID preparedness measures in distt

Ang | : The Deputy Commissioner (DC).Anantnag, Dr Piyush Singla Wednesday held a review meeting regarding COVID preparedness in the district.
At the outset, the DC informed the attendees that various states have seen sudden surge in cases due to the omicron variant. He said that though the severity of cases is lesser than those experienced during previous waves, but the high transmission rate and short doubling time requires alertness and preparedness among the officials to meet out any eventuality.
Principal GMC Anantnag, Dr Tariq Qureshi informed the chair that no COVID cases are hospitalised in the district at present and necessary arrangements to tackle any upsurge in cases are in place.
The meeting held threadbare discussion on the severity and virulence of Omicron variant.
The chair was informed that the district has a total oxygen generation capacity of 3800 LPM. He was informed that in GMC Anantnag a total of 280 beds can be equipped with oxygen. 42 Oxygen supported beds are already functional and 100 more can be added at a short notice.
The engineers from MED were directed to install dedicated oxygen supply line so that at least 40 points can support high flow oxygen.
At Trauma Hospital Bijbehara 2 Oxygen plants of 500 LPM each are functional alongwith 68 oxygen supported beds. Oxygen supply is augmented by 100 COVID dedicated bulk cylinders. .
Similarly at SDH Dooru, SDH Kokernag and CHC Achabal plants with combined capacity of 600 LPM are functional. The Oxygen supplying capacity is augmented by 100 bulk cylinders.
The DC issued direction to ITI Anantnag to get their technicians trained in operating Oxygen plants so that the same may be utilized in case of need. The training will be imparted by Mechanical Engineering Division.
In addition to this, ACD Anantnag informed the chair that 335 COVID care centres are functional in each panchayat of the district with an equal number of Oxygen supported beds.
The meeting was attended by CMO, ACD, all BMOs and Executive Engineer MED alongwith subordinate staff.
