Block Diwas: DC presides over Public Outreach Camp at Kathua

Kathua | : Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rahul Yadav Wednesday convened a Public Outreach Camp here at Conference hall of DC Office Complex.
District Development Council Vice Chairman Raghunandan Singh, BDC chairman Barnoti Block, Chief Planning Officer, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Social Welfare Officer Chief Medical officer, Chief Education Officer, Tehsildar Kathua ,Executive Officer MC Kathua, XEN irrigation Division Kathua, XEN PDD, XEN PHE, XEN PWD, XEN PMGSY, XEN RTIC attended the meeting.
During the camp PRIs projected the issues of public importance and sought immediate redress of the same.
Naib Sarpanch Mehtabpur raised issues related to the construction of Mehtabpur to Dhol Khad road and blacktopping of roads in the internal area of Panchayat, the shingle process of which have already been done. He further raised the issue of drinking water problem in the panchayat and early clearance of old age and widow pension cases.
The Sarpanch Jarai demanded immediate start of work on the tube well in the panchayat for which tender has been already allotted to the contractor. She further demanded construction of a protection wall posing threat to some of the houses situated along the river Ravi. She appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to start the process of removing illegal encroachments on water bodies in the panchayat.
The BDC Chairman Barnoti demanded special electric power lines for PHE stations in block Barnoti so that people can have regular supply of drinking water. He further demanded protection measures along the Ujh River in block Barnoti to save agricultural land from erosion due to flash floods which has caused great losses to the farmers.
Speaking on the occasion, District Development Council Vice Chairman Raghunandan Singh urged the officers of various departments to conduct surprise visits at sites where the development works are in progress to ensure quality and sustained pace of the works.
While addressing the officers, Deputy Commissioner Kathua said that from now on every Block Diwas will have an IEC Campaign and concerned Block Development Officers will be responsible to track the grievances of the public during the Block Diwas.
He appealed to the PRIs to raise the issues/grievances of their respective areas only.
He further appealed to the PRIs to prepare the plans for the next year so that they get approved in the month of March and could be initiated timely.
