2 drug peddlers arrested in Kulgam, Bandipora contraband substances recovered: Police

Srinagar: Police on Tuesday said that two drug peddlers were arrested in Kulgam and Bandipora districts and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
In a statement issued on Tuesday police said that continuing its efforts to curb the menace of drugs from the society, Police in a series of actions have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and Bandipora and also recovered contraband substances from their possession.
According to the police statement a Police party of PS Qaimoh at a checkpoint established at Redwani Payeen intercepted one suspicious person who tried to skip the checkpoint but the alert police party chased him and apprehended him tactfully following which the detained person has been identified as Ruman Kumar son of Balkishan resident of Sundernagar Husharpur. Police in it’s statement further said that during checking 50Kgs of Poppy Straw & 1Kgs of Charas were recovered from the possession of above named accused after which the saifd accused was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
Stating that in another similar incident in Bandipora a police party led by SHO PS Bandipora under the supervision of Dy SP Hqrs Bandipora while acting on inputs received by it from reliable sources established a checkpoint at Nowpora chowk and apprehended a suspicious person identified as Ghulam Mustafa Fafoo son of Ghulam Nabi Fafoo resident of Ashtango Ghat, police in it’s statement further said that during checking 28 Strips of banned drug were recovered from the possession of the above named accused who was shifted to police station where he remains in custody.
“Preliminary investigation reveals that the said accused person was involved in supplying drugs among the youth of the area to make them drug addicts”, reads the above quoted police statement, adding therein that “cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigation also initiated”.
Police in it’s statement also appealed people to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood but warned that people found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law, stating therein further that consistent actions against drug peddlers are taken as part of the efforts taken and continued vigforoiusly to keep society free from the scourge of drug menace.
