SWD hosts Drug demand reduction campaign at Mendhar

Poonch | : The Department of Social Welfare Tuesday organised a daylong awareness programme under Drug demand reduction campaign here at Dakbunglow Mendhar.
District Social Welfare Officer, Shakeel Ahmed Malik supervised the programme held with the support of special officer for cultural activities Rajouri/Poonch, Dr Alam Dar Adam.
Several Cultural Groups, including Kulbir Singh Anjana & Party, Pardeep Khanna & Party, Subash Dutta & party, Manzoor Qureshi & party, Mohammad Rafi, Liaqat and other artists presented theme based cultural items. They created awareness among the common masses through songs appealing to the parents/ audience about drug abuse and how to take care of their children and keep a watch on their activities and behavior.

Addressing the gathering, the DSWO, Shakeel Ahmed Malik said that the event was aimed to make the public aware about the hazards of drug abuse among youngsters. He said the motto behind the campaign was to make the people aware about the drug abuse and its consequences with special focus on the awareness of youngsters and their parents.
People of the area appreciated the move of the District Administration and called for holding more such programmes to make people aware about drug demand reduction.
Pardeep Khanna-the stage Secretary managed the proceedings of the program.
Prominent among others present were SDM Mendhar, Dr. Sahil Jandyal; SDPO Mendhar, PRIs, social activists, youngsters besides locals from all sections of the society.
