Srinagar: Two policemen were injured in a grenade attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district this afternoon, police said.
The grenade was lobbed at around 3 pm towards a joint deployment of Police and Central Reserve Police Force near post office area of Washbug Pulwama.
“Two police personnel got splinter injuries and were shifted to nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries,” a police spokesman said.
Soon after the incident, joint forces cordoned the area and a search operation is on to nab the culprits.
Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law.
“Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this terror crime,” the spokesman said.
The grenade attack in Pulwama took place at a time when security forces have stepped up anti militancy operations. In last 48 hours, six local militants have been killed in south Kashmir districts.
