Students at coaching vulnerable to pandemic spread

Though indiscipline should not become the cause for the fresh strain of COVID-19 pandemic at coaching centres in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division but unfortunately indiscipline more shown by teachers and less by students in absence of strict enforcement of COVID-19 protocols at the coaching centres could the cause for unprecedented rise in the daily no of COVID-19 pandemic cases in Jammu & Kashmir. While reducing the intake capacity for the purposes of social distancing norms set by the government for reducing the fresh strain of covid-19 pandemic should have become new norm of enrollments and coaching at the coaching centres in Jammu & Kashmir, the reports about the attendance of one hundred students in a single class at a time to hear the lectures delivered on loudspeakers by the teachers show the irresponsible response of the teachers to the social distancing norms set by the government to prevent the spread of the fresh strain of covid-19 pandemic. Since the schools are shut for winter vacations in valley, the coaching centres could easily arrange 3-4 shifts to reduce one time attendance of 100 students to just thirty in a single class for purposes of implementing the government’s covid containment norms at the coaching centres. Unfortunately no norms have been fixed for enrollments and attendance of the no of students  in a single class at time for the coaching centres conducting coaching for secondary classes amid fresh strain of covid-19 pandemic in twin capital cities-Srinagar and Jammu and major towns of both Kashmir valley and Jammu division.

Human wisdom demands coaching centres conduct three shifts instead of a single shift for a class of 100 students to ensure the attendance of  25-30 students in a single class at a time for the purposes of strict adherence to social distancing norms. When teachers at the coaching centre don’t pay heed to the calls for implementation of social distancing norms in conduct of classes , the law enforcers are at liberty to enforce social distancing norms at the coaching for the purposes of the containment of the fresh strain of covid-19 pandemic in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division.

Interestingly the no of positive cases reported daily remains the highest in twin capital cities Srinagar and Jammu and major towns particularly district and other districts in both Kashmir valley and as well as Jammu division. Human wisdom demands coaching centres conduct three shifts instead of a single shift for a class of 100 students to ensure the attendance of 25-30 students in a single class at a time for the purposes of strict adherence to social distancing norms.
