Srinagar: Principal Secretary Skill Development Department (SDD), Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon Friday visited Kashmir Government Polytechnic College (KGPC) here and reviewed the academic activities of the institution as well as repair and renovation works being carried out by R&B Department there.
During the visit, the Principal Secretary assessed the working of Leather Technology and Wood Technology Department and directed the concerned officers to set up modernized laboratories for these trades. He instructed them to sign MoU with leading Leather manufacturing industries/institutes of the country and take their assistance for setting up of the labs on modern lines. He also reviewed the working of the Heritage wood craft department offered by the Institution.
Dr. Samoon during the visit also sanctioned Generator for institute for smooth class/ practical work of students. He also visited the under renovation Boys and Girls Hostel and instructed the agency to fix Grills in windows, install a generator in the hostel and provide proper furniture and wifi facility in the hostels.
The Principal Secretary also sanctioned Rs 5 Lakh for purchase of books and also instructed the officers to expedite the process of purchase of equipment and machinery for the laboratories. He also directed them to set up the Medical Facility in the Institute.
Later, Dr. Samoon distributed placement letters among candidates selected through training and placement cell of institute. He also distributed appreciation letters among pass out students of institute having opened their own Industrial units.
