Awareness progs, distribution of farm machinery, debates, seminars held at Kulgam

Kulgam | : On 5th day of ‘Good Governance Week’ being organized under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav with the theme “Prashasan Gaon Ki Aur” multifarious activities were carried out throughout the day by various departments in the district.
The Rural Development Department organised a day-long awareness programme cum workshop for PRIs to aware them about the importance of cleanliness and sanitation at the mini-secretariat, here.
The programme was inaugurated by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat.
Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the aim of Swachta Mission is to achieve sanitation coverage and to put the focus on cleanliness.
He also added that the district has achieved ODF mission and now administration is working on ODF plus programme which is envisaged for solid waste management in villages, along with the collection and transportation of biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes.
The District Development Chairperson, Mohd Afzal Parrey highlighted various environmental issues. He added that excessive use of polythene has degraded the environment.
He said water resources have been polluted and degraded in the district and behavioral change at this stage is very important to save the environment from more degradation.
The programme was attended by ADDC, ACD, ACP and other officers.
Meanwhile, under ‘Good Governance Week’, the Department of Agriculture Friday distributed Tractors, Motorized vending carts, Soil health cards among beneficiaries which were handed over to them by the Deputy Commissioner at Mini-Secretariat, here.
The Department of ISM carried out distribution of free immune boosting kits among people and similarly, ITI College, organized a Seminar on the topic, ‘Importance of Skill Development’.
Other departments including Horticulture, MVD, Revenue and Labour departments also organized a series of programmes under ‘Good Governance week’.
