Dir Agriculture inaugurates Training Camp at Gogji Pathri Budgam

Budgam : Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhary Mohammad Iqbal today inaugurated Farmer’s Training / Awareness Camp under Soil Health Card Scheme (National Mission for Sustainable Agriculture) at Gogji Pathri Nelnag District Budgam. The Camp was attended by a large number of farmers, agriculture entrepreneurs and the representatives of Panchayat Raj Institutions.
Speaking on the occasion, Director Agriculture said that to make agriculture profitable, economically viable and environmentally sustainable is the need of times. The Department is working on a multi dimensional roadmap for the economic transformation of our farming community, we have achieved some goals but there is a lot yet to be done, he said and added.
Director Agriculture said that the sector is facing a lot of challenges because of climate change and other prevailing reasons and to keep our farmers relevant at all the levels is the biggest challenge. He asked the concerned officers and farmers to work in close coordination and in consonance with the demands from the field so that we could face these challenges successfully.
Director Agriculture asked the concerned officers to prepare detailed project reports (DPRs) so that the areas could be promoted in accordance with the agro climatic conditions and crop specific criteria. He asked for the formation of FPOs and to adopt one village in every Panchayat under organic cultivation program.
Director Agriculture also held interactive sessions with the representatives of PRIs including Panches and Sarpanches who raised various concerned issues. Director Agriculture assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed in a time bound manner and also gave on-spot instructions to the concerned officers for the redressal of some of the issues.
Today’s program was organized under the Department’s ongoing public outreach program through which Department is endeavoring to reach farmers at their door steps.
Earlier, Director Agriculture visited different areas of Budgam district and inspected the crop status of oilseed (Mustard) laid during a massive valley wide campaign under National Mission on edible oils.
Director was accompanied by Chief Agriculture Officer Budgam Syed Tafazul Hussain Madni, District Agriculture Officer Syed Aijaz Gul, Sub Divisional Agriculture Officer Budgam Abdul Hamid Shah.
