Demolition drive: 4 illegal structures demolished in Kokernag

Anantnag : The Sub Divisional Administration Kokernag Tuesday demolished four structures in Kokernag as the said structures had been erected in violation of Kokernag Master Plan.
It must be noted that the parties whose structures have been demolished had been served prior notices and did not have any permission from KDA, as mandated under law.
Speaking on the occasion, SDM Kokernag said that in view of the directions issued by DC Anantnag regarding illegal structures, a demolition drive was conducted Tuesday by a joint team of Revenue, KDA, MC Kokernag and JKP aided by R&B and NHIDCL.
He said that while four structures have been demolished during the first phase of the drive, some 30 odd structures that are in violation of Kokernag Master Plan have been identified and demolitions will be carried out in the coming weeks.
It is in place to mention that recently DC Anantnag Dr Piyush Singla had constituted a special task force to identify and demolish any structures that have come up in Kokernag in violation of the Kokernag Master Plan, owing to the need for preservation of this fragile eco sensitive zone.
